Before You Buy From Us

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

Please tell us if you are a serious buyer and if you are a qualified buyer with funds ready to purchase the horse, or if you are simply casually looking. That will really establish a much better relationship between us.

  1. Once you have picked out the horse that you are interested in, please ask any questions that you may have!

  2. All prices are firm, not negotiable.

  3. We then discuss whether the particular horse you are interested in is a good choice for you and discuss the terms in our Bill of Sale (See "Documents"). Our goal is to breed level-minded horses and to pair them with the appropriate person. We do not want to see our horses sold and resold or taken to auctions.

  4. We can send you our Bill of Sale via email, or you can download it off of our website. Once we receive the Bill of Sale, you will have a couple of choices. You can either:

    1. Pay full price, and take the horse home.

    2. Pay a non-refundable deposit of $500, continue with monthly payments until the horse is paid off, and then the horse can go home with you.

    3. Pay 50% down and book a Pre-Purchase Exam (PPE), and then accepting or rejecting the horse after PPE. If you accept the horse, the final balance is due within 72 hours. If you reject the horse, your deposit is promptly returned.

    4. For all internet sales, a deposit of 50% is required. This will mark the horse as "pending payment" and remove them from the currently available list of horses. Upon receiving the deposit, the buyer will have 14 days to arrange pick-up and pay the remainder. For every day after the 14, there will be a $10.00/day boarding fee until the horse is picked up. The horse must be paid in full prior to leaving Southern Star Performance Horses.

  5. You may pay with cashier's check, credit card, debit card, Venmo, PayPal, or a combination of those. We try to make it easy for people, so we will send you a QuickBooks invoice which will allow you to pay by any of the methods you prefer.

  6. We highly recommend that you purchase equine insurance on your horse, until you are able to pick them up. All horses remain with their herd, and horses are walking accidents. We do not assume responsibility for accidents or injuries.

  7. Buyer pays for Coggins and PPE. We will have the Coggins and a Certified Veterinary Inspection completed at the time of pick-up, and provide you with a copy of both documents. The total on the receipt will be added to your balance due. We will pay for the brand inspection.
